Mr. Ray Gene “Ray Ray” Scott was born on January 5, 1952 to
the late Estelle Peterson Cody and the late Flent Roy Scott in
Barbour County, Eufaula, AL. At an early age Ray confessed
and accepted Christ and was admitted into fellowship at the
Thankful Baptist Church.
Ray attended Van Buren and TV McCoo School Systems. He
was employed with the B&B Rail Road Construction Co., for
more than 42 years until his health failed.
On September 20th, a soft sweet voice at his bedside told him,
“Well Done, my faithful servant. I want you to come on
home”. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rosie Johnson.
Ray was known and loved by many.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mary Sue Scott; son,
Marcus (Jennifer) Scott of Dothan, AL; five grandchildren,
Marquez Howard, Marcus Scott Jr, Mar’Kesia Scott, Lamonte
Scott, and Rihanna Scott; five beloved children, Leon Jernigan,
Rodney Jernigan, Melvin Jernigan, Kelvin Jernigan, and
Genise (James) Blackmon of Louisville, AL; sister, Mary Ann
Scott of Fort St. Lucie, FL; a very devoted, loving and caring
cousin, Betty Appling; five sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law;
two caring and devoted friends, Annie Jewil Russaw and
Arthur “Pop” Lasseter; and a host of other grandchildren,
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
To My Cousin
I am very proud to have had you for my cousin. You gave me loving
memories and I love you very much. You may be gone but never
forgotten. I will miss you and may your soul rest in Heaven.
