Dorthy Dean Davis-Martin was born July 30,1940 in Bakerhill, Alabama to the late Lillie Mae and Raymond Davis. Dorthy departed this life on September 21, 2022. She is preceded in death by her two sisters, Dolly Davis, Bessie Turner, two brothers, Raymond and Eugene Davis, bonus niece Laura Ann Davis, nephew, Alex Turner and grandson Marvin Martin Jr. As a child she gave her life to Christ at an early age (St. Luke Baptist Church) Bakerhill, Alabama. Being the eldest of her eight siblings, she always looked out for them anyway she could babysit while her parents earned a living as sharecroppers, she attended Freemount High School and later started out on her life journey then married the late Willie Frank Jones in 1957 out of this union, two sons were born, Raymond Lee Jones and Charles Lee Jones. Dorthy loved fishing sewing cooking family gatherings, shopping, and loved to dress. She was willing to give a helping hand to anyone when needed. She touched the hearts of many and will be remembered for those countless acts of kindness by those that she helped. Dorthy relocated to Williamson NY with the blessings of her parents with her late beloved cousin, Eligha Hill Sr. where she later married Benjamin Lee Martin of that union was born Linda Nell Martin and Marvin Lee Martin. She began her first job opportunity at Duffy Mott's in Williamson, NY. Later in the years to pass Dortha and her family moved to Rochester, NY to rebuild her strength in the Lord and better her education. In 1989, she received her CNA certification at the family learning center of Rochester, NY, where she transitioned employment at The Mariner House for 15 years serving and helping the elderly residents of this facility. In 1999, she became a fully and devoted member and missionary of Grace Unity Fellowship Church (pastor Roosevelt Dixon) where she also later became an Eastern Star Mason. After years of working hard, raising her children Dorthy later relocated back to her home in Alabama where she continued serving the Lord and fellowship with Rocky Mount Baptist Church (Rev. E Charles Davis) until her passing. She leaves to cherish her memories four children, Raymond (Cherrie) Jones, Nashville, Tennessee, Charles Jones, Linda Martin Rochester, NY, Marvin (Tamika) Martin Orlando, Florida. Three sisters, Barbara Reeves, Wanda (Willie) Thomas, Lillie Davis; two brothers Jimmy (Katera) Davis and Rev. Charles (Dorothy) Davis all of Alabama. 14 grandchildren Raymond Jones, Tampa Florida, Raymond Jones Jr. (Los Angeles, California) Tawanda Williams, Titus Jones, Charles Jones Jr, Keshawn Jones, Ja'mire Jones, Shaquanda Horace, Shawanda Horace, Corey Hall Jr., Davina Martin, Devone Martin, Destiny Martin, Nevaeh Martin, all of Rochester, New York and 20 great grands. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends; two stepsons Willie Jones Jr. and Benjamin Martin Jr.; devoted nieces, Gwendolyn Reeves and Joyce Rufus.
