It is with profound sadness that we the Family of Southern Memorial Funeral Home of Eufaula, and Dothan Alabama. Bow in humble submission to sadly announce the passing of our Dear Mother of Southern Memorial. Ms. Eddie Mae Smith, of Eufaula Alabama. Ms. Smith heard the calling of her Heavenly Father, to take rest from her labor here on this earthly side.
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Eddie Mae Smith, was born on October 16, 1943 in Eufaula, Alabama to the late Lena Mae and Eddie Lee Smith. She attended Barbour County School System. She worked many years doing numerous jobs in restaurants, and retail business. Throughout her lifetime, she raised and was the mother to many children.
At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined Star Baptist Church and later she joined the Solid Rock Deliverance Center and remained faithful until her death. She was an Usher, Sunday School Teacher, and Choir Member. She was also a member of the Ladies Aide Society #113, and a member of the Silver Additions.
On Monday, April 25, 2016 at 1:45 AM, God called home our dear beloved, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend from labor to at the Medical Center Barbour. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Eddie Lee Smith, Jr. and Willie Arthur Jordan.
“Eddie Mae” leaves a beautiful legacy to cherish her memories: one daughter, Queenie McClendon of Eufaula, Alabama; one son, Roy Lee (Sheilah) Smith of Birmingham, Alabama; sisters: Emma Louise Smith of Akron, Ohio, Mary Ann (Ervin) Toney, and Doris Ann (Carter) Haynes of Midway, Alabama; brothers: Thomas (Linda) West of Dade City, Florida, Owen (Shannon) West o fHaines City, Florida, Bobby (Barbara) Rivers of Midway, Alabama, Frank (Fannie) Jordan and Jessie Jordan of Eufaula, Alabama; grandchildren, Meshach, Angel, Ashley, Javari, Nyya, and Jessica; Great grandchildren, Hailey, Amiah, Ne-Corri, Laylah and D-mani; stepdaughter, Darlene Smith of Chicago, Illinois; Goddaughter, Joyce Bennett of Rochester, New York; Godsons, Donald Craddock of Atlanta, Georgia, Eric Denson of Eufaula, Alabama; Dontavious & Kavis Craddock of Atlanta, Georgia, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Special Cousins, Henry Franklin and Shirley Johnson; special friends, Eddie Mae Laster, Mary Smith, Belinda Helms, Michele Haynes, Elizabeth Jackson, and Barbara Mayo. Mother Eddiie Mae Smith was the mother of Southern Memorial Funeral Home and leaves Mr. John Grubbs and the entire staff to mourn her passing also.
