James Crawford passed on to eternal life on Monday, December 24, 2012. he transtionted at thrhome of his nephew, Pastor Benjamin Crawford who resides in Baltimore, Maryland. James was the eldest chil of the late J.B. and Beatrice Florence Crawford. James was born in Henry County, Aabama on October 5, 1930. He received his formal education in the Eufaula Public School System in Alabama and later served in he United States Army. James devoted his life to hard and honest work.
James resided in Columbus, Georgia and married Clara Lee. From this union, three children were born: Felicia (proceeded him indeath), Stanley and Nina. he later moved to Stanton Island, New Yokr and resided there unitl May 4, 2010. James became ill in New York and was admitted to the hospital on April 18, 2010. He was then released to the care of his nephew and niece on May 4, 2010, who then cared for him in Baltimore until his transition. James was a good man with a quiet, kind andgentle spirit. He loved "dressing up" and was very good at coordinating his clothes.his hobbies included playing checkers, dominoes and playing pool. He also loved traveling and listening to good preaching and gospel music. He really enjoyed spending time with his eldest Sister Margaret. James received the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and later recommitted his life back to God. As a mature man he faithfully served God until the day god called him home. He faithfully enjoyed reading his bible nightly, going to church, praising God and shouting for joy. He loved the Holiness Church, however after hearing his nephew preach in Baltimore, he decided to join Kingsway Bible Baptist Church. James manifested credible evidence that he was born again, completed the course of instruction for
new members and received the right hand of fellowship on September 12, 2010. He was faithful to Kingsway until the very end. The last service he attended was the Thanksgiving Day worship service at Kingsway on December 22, 2012. The last photo taken of James appears on the front cover and was taken Nov. 11, 2012 at the Kingsway Family and Friends Day. James was a determined man who never gave up. Everybody who came in contact with him loved him. He was known in Kingsway as “UNC”. He was the uncle of the church.
Proceeding him in death; J.B. Crawford (father), Beatrice Florence Crawford (mother) Felicia Crawford (daughter), (Rev. Bobby Crawford (brother) and three sisters, Lois Murray, Helen Hancock and Carolyn Denson. Leaving to cherish his memories are two children, Stanley Crawford (Columbus,Ga) and Nina Crawford (Columbus, Ga); three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three sisters; Margaret Crawford (Baltimore, MD); Marilyn Rivers (Eufaula,AL); Mary Denson (Chicago, Ill); two step brothers; Earl Farley (Texas); Charleston Crawford(Eufaula, Alabama); three stepsisters; Janice Farley Radfordn(Eufaula, AL); Ruby Jackson (Atlanta,GA); Annie Jackson (Eufaula, AL); one brother-in-law Robert Rivers (Eufaula,AL) and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
He fought a good fight of faith and will be remembered and missed by all.
