I’d like the memory of me
to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow of
smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering
softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve,
to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that
I leave when life is done.

Footprints in the Sand
One night I dreamed I was walking
along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene, I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, and
other times there was only one.
This really troubled me, so I
asked the Lord about it.
“Lord, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you would walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life, there is
only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed you the
most, you should leave me.”
He whispered, “My precious child, I love you
and will never leave you.
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints, it was
then that I carried you.”
