John Richard Gullette (Blue) was born to the late Deacon Sim and Johnnie (Cox) Gullette on December 7, 1940 in Clayton, Alabama. He accepted Christ and became a member of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He served as an usher at the church until his health declined.
At an early age Richard moved to New Jersey seeking job opportunities. He gained employment as a butcher at the Empire Meat Company for many years. He than retired returning back to his home town Clayton, Alabama in 1989 where he than met his beautiful wife MaryAnn Gullette and they were married November, 1998.
His hobbies were hunting, while raising and training hunting dogs. Oh how he loved the New York Yankees. He was a peaceful strong man who loved his family dearly. He was a loving and caring HUSBAND, father, grandfather and brother.
He was married to the late Iona Reid and of this union six children. He was than blessed with his seventh child.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Deacon Sim and Johnnie Gullette, sisters Minnie Pompey, and Lula Gullette Jones, daughter Charlene Gullette and grandson Jaquon Gullette. He leaves to cherish fond memories his devoted wife of 21 years, MaryAnn Gullette; six children Tonyia Gullette of North Carolina, Jane Karen White (Charles), Richard Gullette (Kesha), Joie Mickens (Jesse), Barbara Gullette all of New Jersey, Tatrice Gullette Daniels (Allin) of Atlanta Georgia; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; and a loving cousin Hattie Grant; eight siblings Simmie Gullette (Ruby); Hattie Thomas; Jane Glenn (Robert); Elizabeth Miller (Jamie); Mable O’Hara (Simon); Hosie Gullette, Sr. (Margaret); Patricia Gullette; Archie Fred Gullette (Gloria); one sister-in-law; Linda Floyd; three brother-in-law; Billy Floyd; Cody Blackmon; Author Blackmon; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
