John Daniel Peterson (J. D.) was born on August 13, 1948 in
Georgetown, GA to the late Betty and Daniel Peterson.
At an early age he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and
joined Shady Grove A.M.E Church where he remained until death.
He worked as a mechanic for many years and later began to work
with the Quitman County Road Department until his health failed.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing and building things. He was a kind,
warm and quiet man, always wearing a smile.
John departed his earthly home on March 9, 2017 at his residence.
He was proceeded in death by his mother and father, Betty and
Daniel Peterson; three sisters, Betty Jean Oliver, Louise Braswell,
and Carletha Peterson; and one brother, Walter Peterson.
J.D. leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife
and companion of 40 years, Mary L. Peterson of Georgetown, GA;
two daughters, Rosa (Gregory Sr) James of Eufaula, AL and
Tonya (Randy) Johnson of Georgetown, GA; step-daughter,
Krystale Peterson of Eufaula, AL; three grandchildren, Shonta
Peterson, Gregory James Jr and Jayla James all of Eufaula, AL;
Two great-grandchildren, Josiah Peterson and Reggie Mahone Jr
both of Eufaula, AL; a special great-nephew, Jamarion Peterson;
two brothers, Alonzo (Scarlett) Peterson of Georgetown, GA and
Willie Oscar (Shirley) Peterson of Palmyria, New Jersey; two
sisters, Rebecca Turner of Eufaula, AL and Minnie Pearl Peterson
of Georgetown, GA; two brothers-in-law, Earl (Ruby) Johnson of
Eufaula, AL and Wesley (Geraldine) Johnson of Georgetown, GA;
two sisters-in-law, Geneva (Leroy) Bouyer of Georgetown, GA
and Lucille Peterson of Phenix City, AL; two aunts, Johnny Mae
Profit of Atlanta, GA and Rosa Lee Jones of Eufaula, AL; and a
host of sorrowing nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
