I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one. I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun; Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

If tears could build a stairway And memories were a lane I would walk right up to heaven And bring you back again No farewell words were spoken No time to say goodbye You were gone before I knew it And only God knows why My heart still aches with sadness And secret tears still flow What it meant to lose you No one will ever know But now I know you want me To mourn for you no more To remember all the happy times Life still has much in store Since you'll never be forgotten I pledge to you today A hallowed place within my heart Is where you'll always stay.

God looked around his garden And found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth, And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you And lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew that you were in pain. He saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb. So He closed your weary eyelids And whispered “Peace be thine.” It broke our hearts to lose you But you did not go alone… For part of us went with you The day God called you home. D. W. MCCONWAY.
