His sunset on February
5, 2023 at Southeast Medical Center in Dothan, AL after a long battle
with kidney failure. Since at the age of 14, he has been fighting a good
fight. He had his first kidney transplant at the age of 17. Ricky was
the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Louella and Herbert Darby. Ricky
moved to New Britain, CT in 1984. He was employed there at the
Treasure Chest. Years later, he moved to Cincinnati, where he took
pride in driving for Greyhound Buses for years of experiencing people,
he decided to move back closer to home. He took residence in Atlanta,
GA. He took employment as a servant at St. Philips Benizi Catholic
Church where he talked about the Lord all the time.
Ricky proceeded in death his wife, Rose Greenlee-Darby; two sisters,
Carolyn and Loretta Darby and two brothers, Herbert Jr and Larry
Darby.
He leaves to cherish is memory his son, Ricky (Shantell) Darby, Jr.,
Eufaula, AL; two daughters, Janessa Hunter-Richardson and Jennifer
(Kenneth) Douglas, both of Eufaula, AL; two stepchildren, Tashara
Greenlee-Ponder, Jonesboro, GA and Andre Pope, New Britain, CT; six
grand daughters, Ashlyn Darby, Addisyn Richardson, Kynsley Douglas
all of Eufaula, AL, D’Andrea Ponder, Destinee Ponder and Tarianna
Ponder, all of Jonesboro, GA; three grandsons, Jaylen Douglas, Owen
Ricky Darby and Naquire Hunter, all of Eufaula, AL; four sisters-in
-law, Angela Greenlee, New Britain, CT, Marion James, Plainville,
Brenda Simmons, Manchester and Sandra Mercer, Waterbury; special
nieces and nephews, Nicole Darby, Natalie Darby, and Ashley Darby,
all of Eufaula, AL, Billy Darby and KeKe Darby, both of Brooklyn, NY,
Shemaiah Darby, Stevie Darby, Jr, Atlanta, GA, Jakelia Darby, Kiuna
Darby, Dothan, AL; and Brandon Darby, Ozark, AL; two devoted
cousins, Charlie Shorter, and Andre Harris; four devoted friends, Pastor
Marvin Brown, Vincent Brown, James Hicks and Joseph Hunter
and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and his best friends,
Casey.
