Grubbs Family Mortuary sadly announces the passing of Mr. Simmie Gullette 90, of Clayton Alabama. Service's are entrusted to. Grubbs Family Mortuary. A Name You Can Trust And Stand On. When Only The Best Will Do! We ask That you please keep the Gullette Family in your prayers as they travel through this most difficult journey.
Simmie Gullette, who many affectionately loved
and knew was born on March 12th 1935, in Clayton
Alabama, to the late, Sim Gullette and Johnnie May
Gullette. Simmie as many of us knew him was a
force to be reckoned with. He was full of energy, a
hard worker, and a true lover of family and
community. Once you had one encounter with him
you would remember that you had been in contact
with “Mr Simmie.”
Simmie was reared in Clayton Alabama where he received some of
his secondary education, and then went on to Barbour County
training school. He made the decision early in life to move up North
where he began his employment with East Side Lighting Company
in Linden NJ. He went on to work with the company until the
company moved its operations to Spartanburg SC , there Simmie
remained until retirement. He soon after returned home to Alabama
to enjoy his latter years.
Simmie will be missed in his town and community of Clayton. He
will surely miss his second family at Shiloh Baptist Church where he
served as a faithful deacon, under the leadership of Rev. LR. Straw
for many years. Although his light was dimmed sooner than we
would want, the door will always remain open in the hearts of those
who loved him the most.
He leaves to cherish his memory, four daughters, Joan Diggs
(Arthur) of Eufaula Alabama,; Patrice Bembry of Clayton Alabama;
Katrina Carmon (Aquila) of Wilson, NC, Yolanda Gullette which
preceded him in death. Two sons, Charles Gullette of Miami Fl and
Timmie Bervard who also proceeded in death; six grandchildren,
four great grandkids, six sisters and four brothers. A host of other
relatives and friends.
