Willie Blackshire Obituary

Southern Memorial Funeral Home sadly announces the passing of Mr. Willie Edward Blackshire 71, of Eufaula Alabama. Services are entrusted to. Southern Memorial. The One's Who Truly Care! When Only The Best Will Do. We ask that you please keep the Blackshire family in your prayers as they travel through this difficult journey.

Willie Edward Blackshire "Will Edward" was born March 30, 1949, to the late Willie Dee and Willie Pearl Blackshire in Utica, New York. They later moved to Eufaula, AL, where he graduated from TV McCoo in 1967, and he attended Talladega College.

He joined into Holy Matrimony with Mary Beatrice Anderson "Tena", and they gave birth to two sons (Wardrick and Willie) and two daughters (Tera and Jennifer). He gave his life to Christ at an early age and served faithfully at Star Baptist Church where he was a Deacon.

Will Edward was known for painting and for refinishing hard word floors. In addition, he was known for singing duets with his lovely wife. They typically sang songs such as "Over Yonder Where Jesus Is," "Give Me My Flowers," and "May the Work I’ve Done Speak for Me." In addition, he sang with his brothers and would also sing solos. Sadly, his wife, "Tena", preceded him in death, and he made it clear that he missed her dearly.

Health issues resulted in him no longer being able to work and to actively serve in church as he had been so accustomed. He suffered a stroke in 2009, but he God spared his life. On December 28, 2019, he became ill and was admitted to Flowers Hospital in Dothan, AL. He lost the ability to walk and was moved to Westside Terrace on January 18, 2020, in Dothan. He was moved to Crowne Healthcare in Eufaula on February 7, 2020, and he remained there until his life expired on April 15, 2020.

Those left to cherish his memories include the following: sons, Wardrick (Tracy) Blackshire, Montgomery, AL, and Willie (Thomaseena), Eufaula, AL; daughters, Tera (Malcolm) Scott and Jennifer (James "Bo") Lawrence , Eufaula; eleven grandchildren, Tanisha Green and Justin But-ler White; Miracle and Teran Scott; Danielle, James, and Jamesha Law-rence; Tamiaha Blackshire; Kailani McErvin, Harmoni and Willow Black-shire; two great-grandchildren, Aubree White and Cash Jackson; five sis-ters, Jessie Mae Davis Randolph, Farmington Hills, Michigan; Marrietta Hawkins, Eufaula; Rozelletta Blackshire, Columbus, Georgia; Arleana Lawrence and Gayle Louder, Dothan, AL; three brothers, Bobby (Mae), Eddie and Timothy Blackshire, Eufaula; sister-in-law, Lelia Bouyer, Hart-ford, Connecticut; brother-in-law, Johnny Anderson, Citrus Springs, Flori-da; two great aunts, Julia O’Bryant of Hartford, Connecticut, and Nadie Davis, Eufaula; and a host of other family members and friends.

~Psalms 23~

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
